Jeannette's Fine Art & Design
|
Jeannette Shoemaker
I studied photography in
college and studied pastels for several years under Nicora Gangi, a well accomplished pastel artist and art professor at Syracuse
University. For the past 10 years I have been working primarily in pastels and, on occasion, oils. I have been in many
shows and won many awards. My work can be seen at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery in Canandaigua, NY and the Renaissance Art Gallery
in Rochester, NY. I am also currently a member of the Rochester Art Club.
My most respected artists are William
Bouguereau, Maxfield Parrish, Edgar Degas, and Georgia O’Keeffe. I love to paint “figures, faces and florals”. It’s such a thrill to see the human form
come to life, an exciting portrait, or a lovely close up of one of God’s beautiful gifts to us, flowers. I acknowledge
Jesus Christ as the creator of all the beauty in this world. James 1:17 says: "Every good gift and every perfect
gift is from above".
Pastels are my passion due to their bold, brilliant colors and the immediacy
of the medium. I work from photos and life and love the layering and blending techniques to achieve a dramatic realism
of light and shadow.
